“Max” was my very first shepherd, born 1970. She was a Grief Elfenhain granddaughter, and looked just like him. A large, powerful female, high drive, iron nerves, totally stable, she travelled with my family throughout North America. She came to high school sports events with me, and even found herself on the soccer field once, having confiscated the ball! She was my constant companion, and solidified for me the ideal of the GSD as a working dog extraordinaire. It was a long time before I found her like again.
These are drawings I did of her, from life, around 1974. I didn’t even remember that I had kept them.
